Microsoft Dynamics 365 Review
Dynamics 365 is Microsoft's business applications family. For ERP purposes the relevant products are Dynamics 365 Business Central for small and mid-sized organisations and Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management for larger ones. What separates Dynamics from its peers is not raw functional depth but context: identity through Entra ID, analytics through Power BI, low-code extension through Power Platform, and everyday work through Microsoft 365. For organisations already committed to that estate, the integration and governance advantages are substantial.
Editor’s verdict
Dynamics 365 is the strongest choice for organisations whose IT strategy is already Microsoft-centred. Identity, security policy, reporting and collaboration all inherit from a stack the business already runs and already governs, and Power Platform gives internal teams a genuine low-code path to extend the system without a vendor. Two things temper this: per-user licensing across multiple applications adds up quickly at mid-market scale, and Kuwait delivery is partner-led, so partner capability is again the variable that decides project outcome.
- Positioning

- Business size
- Small (21–50)، Mid-market (51–500)، Large (501–2,000)، Enterprise (2,000+)
Who it suits — Microsoft Dynamics 365
Who it suits
- Organisations standardised on Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Azure
- Businesses that want Power BI as their primary analytics layer
- Companies with internal IT capability to use Power Platform for extension
- Mid-market organisations wanting a recognised international platform (Business Central)
- Larger enterprises needing supply chain depth without SAP-scale delivery (Finance & SCM)
Who it may not suit
- Organisations with no existing Microsoft estate to leverage
- Cost-constrained buyers, once several applications and user tiers are combined
- Businesses wanting a single vendor accountable for both product and delivery
- Companies needing heavy GCC-specific process behaviour out of the box
Strengths and limitations
Each point below is labelled as a fact, an editorial assessment or an opinion, with sources where the claim is factual.
Strengths
- Fact:Dynamics 365 is a family of business applications spanning finance, supply chain, sales, service and operations, documented publicly by Microsoft.[Microsoft]
- Fact:Microsoft publishes per-user list pricing for most Dynamics 365 applications.[Microsoft]
- Our assessment:Integration with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure and Power BI is the product's clearest structural advantage and is difficult for competitors to replicate.[Microsoft]
- Our assessment:Power Platform gives internal teams a supported low-code route to extend the system, reducing dependence on the implementation partner for smaller changes.[Microsoft]
- Our assessment:Power BI is a genuinely strong analytics layer, and it is native rather than bolted on.
- Our assessment:Identity, conditional access and security policy inherit from the organisation's existing Microsoft governance, which shortens security review considerably.
- Our assessment:The partner network is large and international, with presence in the GCC.
Limitations
- Our assessment:Total licensing cost rises quickly once finance, supply chain, sales and service applications are combined with full-user licences.[Microsoft]
- Our assessment:The Business Central and Finance & SCM lines are different products with different capabilities and costs; choosing the wrong one is a common and expensive early mistake.
- Our assessment:Kuwait-specific requirements are typically partner-delivered rather than shipped, so localisation depth depends on the partner's own investment.
- Our assessment:Delivery quality varies across the partner network, as it does for any partner-led platform.
- Opinion:The ecosystem advantage is real but conditional. For an organisation not already on Microsoft, much of the case for Dynamics evaporates.
Score breakdown
Each criterion is scored out of 10 and weighted according to our published methodology. The overall score of 8.4 is calculated from these rows.
- Kuwait & GCC Suitability
- Arabic support, multi-currency and GCC partner presence are in place, and the Microsoft estate is common in Kuwaiti corporates. Scored below the local leaders because Kuwait-specific process behaviour is partner-delivered rather than shipped.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Core ERP Functionality
- Finance and Supply Chain Management provides near-enterprise functional depth, and Business Central covers the mid-market competently. Strong across the core areas without reaching SAP's ceiling.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Workflow Flexibility
- Native workflow plus Power Automate gives a wide and well-governed automation surface that internal teams can extend. Marked below the top band because complex approval hierarchies still need deliberate design work.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Implementation Flexibility
- The extension model is upgrade-safe and Power Platform lowers the cost of small changes. Scored mid-range because significant process divergence still routes through partner development, and the Business Central versus Finance line choice constrains options early.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Multi-Company & Multi-Branch
- Multi-company and inter-company operation is well supported with strong dimensional reporting. Below SAP and Oracle on automated consolidation depth at group scale.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Integration & API Capability
- Documented APIs, Dataverse and the Power Platform connector ecosystem, combined with near-frictionless integration into Microsoft 365 and Azure. The strongest integration position in this evaluation.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Reporting & Analytics
- Power BI as a native analytics layer is a genuine structural advantage, giving self-service analysis and executive dashboarding without a third-party BI purchase.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- AI & Automation
- Applied AI and Copilot capability is shipped across the applications and Power Platform, backed by substantial platform investment. Among the strongest in this evaluation on delivered capability.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Scalability
- Finance & Supply Chain Management carries large-enterprise headroom. The caveat is that moving up from Business Central is a re-implementation rather than a scale-up.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Total Cost Considerations
- List pricing is published, which helps transparency, but combined application, full-user and Power Platform licensing escalates quickly at mid-market scale. Total five-year cost is routinely underestimated during shortlisting.Last reviewed 24 August 2026
- Local Support Availability
- Large partner network with GCC presence and a deep skills market, so buyers retain exit options. Marked down because functional support is partner-dependent and escalation crosses a partner-to-vendor boundary.Last reviewed 24 August 2026

Kuwait & GCC localisation
- Fact:Dynamics 365 supports Arabic and right-to-left interfaces as part of its international language coverage.[Microsoft]
- Our assessment:Country-specific functionality is delivered through Microsoft's localisation programme plus partner-built extensions; verify Kuwait-specific behaviour with the partner.
- Our assessment:Multi-currency handling including three-decimal currencies is standard.[Central Bank of Kuwait]
Multi-company
- Fact:Multi-company and inter-company operation is supported across the Dynamics 365 ERP applications.[Microsoft]
Multi-branch
- Our assessment:Branch structures are modelled through dimensions, sites and warehouses, which is flexible but requires deliberate design.[Microsoft]
Security & audit
- Our assessment:Security inherits from Entra ID and the organisation's existing Microsoft governance, including conditional access and audit tooling.[Microsoft]
Mobile
- Fact:Mobile applications are available across the Dynamics 365 family.[Microsoft]
Implementation, integration and support
Implementation considerations
- Our assessment:Settle the Business Central versus Finance & Supply Chain Management decision before partner selection, because it changes cost, capability and timeline materially.
- Our assessment:Model the licence mix realistically. Full-user, team-member and device licence counts drive a large share of five-year cost.
- Our assessment:Use Power Platform deliberately: it can reduce partner dependency, or it can become an ungoverned sprawl of unsupported flows.
Customisation
- Fact:Extension is supported through Power Platform low-code tooling and, for Business Central, AL extensions.[Microsoft]
- Our assessment:The extension model is designed to survive cloud updates, which is a meaningful advantage over customisation approaches that modify core behaviour.
Integration approach
- Fact:Dynamics 365 exposes documented APIs and integrates through Dataverse and Power Platform connectors.[Microsoft]
- Our assessment:Integration into the wider Microsoft estate is close to frictionless; integration to non-Microsoft systems is well supported but ordinary.
Reporting & analytics
- Our assessment:Power BI is a first-class native analytics layer and is among the strongest reporting positions in this evaluation.[Microsoft]
AI & automation
- Our assessment:Microsoft ships applied AI across Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, with Copilot capabilities integrated into business processes.[Microsoft]
- Opinion:Confirm which AI features are included in your licence tier and region before assigning them weight.
Scalability
- Our assessment:Finance & Supply Chain Management scales to large enterprise volumes; Business Central is calibrated for SMB and lower mid-market.
- Our assessment:Moving between the two lines is a re-implementation, not an upgrade, which makes the initial choice consequential.
Support model
- Our assessment:Microsoft provides platform support; functional day-to-day support in Kuwait comes from the implementing partner.[Microsoft]
Partner ecosystem
- Our assessment:Large international partner network with GCC presence and a deep skills market, giving buyers real choice and exit options.
Pricing considerations
- Pricing model
- Per-user subscription by application and licence tier.
- List pricing published
- Yes
Cost drivers
- Which Dynamics 365 applications are in scope
- Full-user versus team-member licence mix
- Partner implementation rates and project duration
- Power Platform and Power BI licensing
- Data migration and integration scope
- Ongoing partner support arrangement
- Fact:Microsoft publishes per-user list pricing for Dynamics 365 applications on its pricing pages.[Microsoft]
- Our assessment:List pricing gives good early transparency, but the combined cost of several applications plus Power Platform licensing is frequently underestimated during shortlisting.

- ComparisonOctoVyre vs Microsoft Dynamics 365: Kuwait ERP ComparisonDynamics 365 is the stronger choice for organisations already standardised on Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Azure, where identity, analytics and collaboration inherit from infrastructure the business already governs. OctoVyre is the stronger choice for Kuwaiti groups whose complexity is operational rather than technological — layered approvals, branch structures and cross-module process control — and who want vendor-delivered implementation and in-country support.
- ComparisonOdoo vs Microsoft Dynamics 365: Which Suits Kuwait Businesses?Odoo offers greater application breadth, transparent published pricing and a deeper, cheaper skills market, which makes it the more accessible option for SMEs. Dynamics 365 offers stronger enterprise governance, native Power BI analytics and integration with the Microsoft estate, which makes it the better fit for organisations already committed to Microsoft and operating at mid-market scale or above.
- ComparisonSAP vs Microsoft Dynamics 365: Enterprise ERP Comparison for KuwaitSAP S/4HANA has greater functional and statutory depth and remains the default for multinational groups with complex consolidation obligations. Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management offers most of the enterprise capability Kuwaiti organisations actually use, at lower cost and with decisive advantages for businesses already running the Microsoft estate.
